Its often said that the most important time of the day is breakfast, and while I do love breakfast I believe that all meals are equally important and what’s more important than food? Cheap food of course. It seems the people of Sheffield agree with this as there are no shortages of options to get your grub on without cashing out.
From American to Mexican to a good old British breakfast why not try one of these 5 affordable bites.
Lucky Fox
Sheffield’s very own ‘diner and dive bar’ offering the steel city a taste of America, with a menu consisting of bagels, club sandwiches, burgers, nachos and the now famous Lucky Fox fried chicken with waffles there’s something for everyone (even salads if you’re into that) its comfort food done right. The only downside? Its own popularity the place is usually packed, especially at lunch, and therefore its often hard to find a table, but not to worry with a large selection of U.S beers and the monstrous freak shakes there’s plenty of choice to keep you occupied while you wait for a seat.

Street Food Chef
This entry has some biased behind it as I absolutely love Mexican food, but non the less the Street Food Chef offers up fantastically fresh Mexican cuisine the way it should be served, as street food. With all the Mexican classics such as nachos, tacos and of course burritos its everything you could ask for in regards to Mexican food. Plus, for those who love a challenge or just love food and lots of it try the Burrito Challenge It weighs three and a half pounds with meats, cheese, nachos and four types of salsa and Mexican hot sauce it’s a monster yet still tastes divine. Everything is prepared fresh on site daily and at affordable prices it would be ‘loco’ not to mention them here. Plus, the Churros alone put them on this list as I think I am in love with them.

HowSt
My go to spot for a big breakfast sandwich one because of its location (right next to my uni) and two due to the food (really good). HowSt is home to my favourite meal deal ever; a sandwich of choice, for me that’s a huge Cumberland sausage sandwich a packet of Kettle chips, (cheese and onion of course) and a can of San Pellegrino orange all of which costs just £5. Breakfast not your thing? Then opt for the wide choice of toasties and Panini’s instead there really is a great option for everyone so I expect to see even more of the school trip lunch style brown paper bags around my university campus.

Bungalows & Bears
What’s better than a burger? Of course the answer to that is two burgers but what’s even better than two burgers? Two for one burgers that’s what. Well that’s precisely what bungalows and bears will offer on Tuesdays so grab a dinner date and head on down to tackle one of these monster burgers as you will not be disappointed. With fillings ranging from a classic beef to bbq rib and even katsu curry chicken theres plenty of options to ‘bear’ in mind. Burgers not your thing? The offer also extends to their fried or spatchcock cooked chicken is anyone else getting hungry or is it just me?

It might look like I’ve cheated adding two options here but the menus are the same and I can’t pick a favourite despite this I have two venues and two words ‘wing Wednesdays’. How many chicken wings do you think you could eat in one sitting? And now if I tell you they are only 25p each does that number increase dramatically. All too often I find myself going out for a light bite and ordering 40 wings which isn’t an issue as they are always crispy yet succulent and with a choice of BBQ, Tabasco and for the brave (or stupid) Naga chilli sauce. plus, Wednesday is often when the champions league is on and name me a better combination than 25p wings and watching Liverpool embarrass themselves in Europe?

So there is plenty of choice to cure the stomach rumbles without upsetting your bank balance. Is there any that I missed? I love trying new food so if you have any other suggestions whether that be different places or even just different items that I haven’t mentioned here let me know on any of our social media links and i'll be sure to drag the rest of the team out for food. Now if you’ll excuse me I’m going to get some fried chicken.
