Sheffield is the only city in the UK that has a national Park within its boundary. But how many of us have actually paid a visit to one of the most beautiful parts of the country?

After speaking to the people in Sheffield it soon became clear that many of us have never taken the time to really appreciate what makes our city special.

Previously labelled the ‘greenest city in the world,’ and recognised by BBC Countryfile as the ‘best city for country lovers.’ you could say we have a lot to boast about. But could it be that the residents of Sheffield are blinded by the grey buildings in the center that they’ve forgotten about the hidden gem on the outskirt?

So, why should you visit the Peak District? It's over 555 sq. miles of beautiful green sights and walks linking five different counties. It also has 2,900 listed buildings including the well known Chatsworth estate (definitely worth visiting) and multiple caves that you can go exploring in, the tallest reaching a huge 464 feet!

Newly formed business ‘Yompers’ aims to get adults and children reconnected with the countryside and local history using a Walk-a-Month Calendar.

“It’s too easy to take what’s on your doorstep for granted,” said Nick Mortimer, the founder of Yompers. Noticing the 'beauty and diverse terrains of the Peak district,' their aim was to encourage families and young children to get out and exercise more while also “enjoying the amazing place, natures playground.”

The calendars include tear-out route cards, which provide everything you need for the perfect walking trip.

Also complemented with the work from award winning photographer Michael Cummins the calendar includes photos that “really encapsulate the Peak District and Derbyshire.”

So what are you waiting for? Go out there and see the beautiful sights or you’ll never know what you’re missing out on.
