Sheffield City Council has released proposals for a new hotel to be built along side the current central library.
The initial idea came last year from a Chinese investor who was hoping to increase connections in South Yorkshire and was willing to invest £220 million into areas of South Yorkshire.
A first of its kind in Sheffield, the five star hotel and 27-floor structure is predicted to bring more jobs and business to the city, increasing the economy.
Sheffield Council previously stated that the cost of refurbishing the current library to required standards was £30 million. Something they just couldn’t afford.
Here’s what the people of Sheffield had to say about the proposed plans.
